8th annual Scott Bradley Adventurous Life scholarship presentation.

Today was the 8th annual Scott Bradley Adventurous Life scholarship presentation.  Last year I was not able to be there for the presentation due to changes as a result of COVID.  Unfortunately I was not able to be there for the presentation this year due to another commitment.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to write some thoughts that were shared during the presentation.  I am including those thoughts below, but the above lifestream from our church has the scholarship presentation starting around the 40:28 mark.

Congratulations to Emma Hasting!

“Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, ‘Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?’” Esther 4:13-14 (NASB)

Every year as the time approaches for the presentation of this scholarship, I start thinking and praying about what God would want me to share.  The phrase that kept coming to mind this year is from Esther 4:13-14 when Mordecai is telling Esther that God had placed her as Queen in the King’s house “for such a time as this.”  Mordecai was reminding Esther that there were more important things at stake than herself.  This had to be hard to hear, but Esther chose to listen to Mordecai and step out in faith and boldness, laying her very life at stake for God’s glory and plan.

The pandemic and other circumstances in our world over the last year may have brought about or forced changes to your plans for the future.  Take courage in the fact that God has placed each of you where you are for a reason, with unique opportunities to bring glory to Him.  It is very easy to get caught up in ourselves and our own plans.  Watch and listen for your “Mordecai” moments.  Always search out God and how you can serve Him wherever you are.  We are all called, in our various ways, for such a time as this!
